Police shoot, kill man in early morning altercation, Kentucky state police say

Kentucky State Police said they are investigating after police shot and killed a man during an early morning confrontation Tuesday.
KSP’s critical incident response team (CIRT) were called in by the Lexington Police Department (LPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Lexington at approximately 1:17 a.m. Tuesday on Regency Point Path.
State police detectives arrived on the scene and began an investigation into the incident.
A man was transported from the scene for life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased the University of Kentucky Hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the Commonwealth as requested by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
