A Kentucky firefighter was killed Tuesday night when the fire engine he was driving veered off the road and plunged down an embankment and into a river, officials said. He was traveling to escort the body of a Kentucky EMT and firefighter who was killed earlier in the day.
Officials said Frank Witt with the 504 Volunteer Fire Department in Elliot County, Kentucky, was killed when the fire truck he was driving veered off the Kentucky Route 504, crashed through a guardrail and plunged down a ravine into the edge of a river.
Witt was traveling to help other first responders escort the body of EMT and firefighter Drake Adams who reportedly died earlier in the day at his home just after ending a work shift.
