One man killed, another injured when box truck collides with pickup, Kentucky State Police say

One Kentucky man was killed and another injured Thursday when a box truck collided with a pickup truck, state police said.

The accident happened at approximately 7 a.m. when the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was called by Russellville police in reference to a fatal collision in Russellville.

Troopers responded to the scene at the intersection of the US 68 Bypass and Highland Lick Road.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a yellow box truck operated by Cody Smith, 32 of Russellville, was traveling north through the intersection on US 68 Bypass and Highland Lick Road in Russellville.

The yellow box truck struck a red Nissan pickup truck that was traveling west through the intersection on Highland Lick Road at US 68 Bypass.

The red Nissan was operated by Rodger Wright, 64 of Russellville. Wright was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Logan County Coroner. Smith was transported to Logan Memorial Hospital, where he will be treated for his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and will be led by Detective Bo Hubbard. He was assisted at the scene by the Russellville Police Department, Logan County Sherriff’s Office, Russellville Fire Department, Logan County Coroner’s Office, Logan County EMS, and other KSP personnel.
