A Kentucky man has been charged with the murder of his roommate after police believe the pair were drinking, got into a fight and the suspect reportedly choked the victim to death.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence in Stanford Tuesday night by Joseph Nutgrass, 50, who told dispatchers his roommate was unresponsive.

Deputies arrived to find Ricky Patterson unconscious. First responders tried to revive Patterson, but he was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators allege the pair got into a fight after drinking and Nutgrass choked Patterson.

Nutgrass is charged with murder. Patterson’s body is scheduled for an autopsy.
