BOWLING GREEN — A mother and son were struck and killed Thursday night at the intersection of Scottsville Road and Ken Bale Boulevard.

They were identified in a police report as Christopher and Christina Mead, both of Bowling Green. Ronnie Ward, public information officer for the Bowling Green Police Department, said the Meads were crossing the street after Christina Mead’s other adult son went ahead of them. Ward said they were crossing during a green light for drivers. Christina Mead was on a motorized scooter.

Ward said police originally believed the Meads were married.

The other son was not injured.

The Meads were taken to The Medical Center at Bowling Green, where they were pronounced dead.

According to the police report, the driver was a 17 year old traveling 15 MPH over the speed limit when he struck the couple with the back right side of his truck.

Ward said the minor fully cooperated with law enforcement and no charges have been filed.

The name of the driver has not been released because he is a minor.

Ward said a family friend was located to care for the second son.
