Woman sent to hospital after metal object falls off popular roller coaster at Cedar Point

A metal object detached from a popular roller coaster ride Sunday and struck a woman waiting in line at the Cedar Point theme park in Ohio.

Officials at Cedar Point conformed to new sources that a small metal object detached from a train on the Top Thrill Dragster ride at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The object then struck a woman waiting in line for the ride. The woman was then taken to the hospital and later transferred to another facility.

The name and age of the woman was not identified.

The Top Thrill Dragster ride is the fourth fastest roller coaster in the world.

The amusement park attraction takes riders from 0 to 120 mph in 3.8 seconds and sends them 420 feet in the air.

Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, Ohio, along Lake Erie.
