Kentucky father arrested after he exchanges gunfire with daughter’s boyfriend

A Laurel County man is accused of trying to kill his daughter’s boyfriend after an argument turned into a double shootout.

Jeffery Smith, 50, of London was charged with attempted murder and two counts of wanton endangerment after argument with his adult daughter’s boyfriend turned into a shootout.

During the investigation of the double shootout, it was determined that Smith had fired a weapon in the direction of his adult daughter and her boyfriend early Thursday mroning. This caused the boyfriend to return gunfire.

During this exchange, another party that was at the residence was struck. This individual was transported to the London-Corbin airport and flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Reports are that the individual should recover.

Also during the altercation, the boyfriend received multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to St. Joseph — London where he is receiving treatment.

News sources say report that deputies say they don’t plan on charging the boyfriend.
