Police shoot, kill man who was reportedly holding mother hostage at Kentucky motel

Police shot and killed a man who reportedly held his mother at knifepoint in a Kentucky motel room.

The man, who police say was involved in a domestic altercation, was shot and killed by a Danville Police officer at the Super 8 motel on the Danville Bypass Tuesday morning

According to Chief Tony Gray, Danville Police was dispatched to room 221 at the Super 8 motel for a domestic-related call, where the suspect was holding his mother at knifepoint.

Officers verbally engaged the suspect in attempts to resolve the situation peacefully, according to Gray. Those attempts were unsuccessful.

The officer fired one round fatally wounding the suspect. No other persons were injured in the incident.

The DPD requested that Kentucky State Police investigate the incident. The three officers who were on the scene have been put on administrative leave.
