Report: Rider ‘flew out’ of Gatlinburg coaster, officials investigating

A rider was thrown from a rollercoaster in Gatlinburg on March 29, prompting a state investigation.
The incident report says a rider on the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster ‘flew out of a cart’ while entering a sharp curve on the ride. The report says the rider then struck the track and traveled approximately 10 feet from the cart.
The report says the unidentified person was taken to the hospital with injuries to the wrist, ankle and head.
The ride was shut down immediately after the incident,. It resumed operation after it was deemed safe by an inspector, according to state officials.
A compliance officer from the state’s Amusement Device Unit was in Gatlinburg Tuesday continuing the investigation.
