A Kentucky man died after a two-car collision Wednesday.

Kentucky State Police said the collision happened around 11:45 a.m. The crash occurred two miles south of Summer Shade at the intersection of Kentucky 163 and Apple Grove Road.

A preliminary investigation indicates Jack Gibbins, 86, of Summer Shade, was traveling southbound in a 2008 GMC when he turned left into the path of a 1992 northbound Chevy S10.

Police said Jackie Emberton, 67, of Tompkinsville, was driving that truck. Emberton was unable to avoid the collision and hit Gibbons in the passenger side. Emberton was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gibbons and a passenger in his vehicle, Martha Gibbons, 80, of Summer Shade, were both wearing a seat belt.

Jack Gibbons was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Martha Gibbons was admitted to T.J. Sampson hospital in Glasgow.

The Collison remains under investigation.
