One woman died and three people — including two children — were injured after a domestic violence incident in a Kentucky home Thursday morning.

Lexington Police were dispatched to the house in the Masterson Station area shortly after 9 a.m. where Kenya Higgins, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say two children and one man were taken to a hospital. The children had sustained life-threatening injuries.

Higgins reportedly died of multiple gunshot wounds. Her death was classified as a homicide, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s office.

The case remains under investigation.
