How gas prices have changed in Elizabethtown in the last week
Gasoline prices are down about 10 cents on average across the country this week.
Midwesterners are seeing a break in elevated gas prices caused by the shutdown of a refinery in Indiana as owner BP reportedly wraps up maintenance and restarts production in the coming days. While drivers in many Midwestern states are seeing gasoline hover at $3 per gallon or less, Illinois drivers are paying nearly $3.50 this weekâan outlier in the region.
Drivers in Florida are also getting a reprieve as prices there have come down some from the record high for the year they notched last week. Analysts anticipate prices could climb higher over the next few weeks.
GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan warned Monday that rising demand for gas will soon raise prices at the pump as oil grows more expensive. “All eyes are on refiners as utilization remained seasonally weak, around 80% of capacity, meaning there’s less gasoline and diesel being produced,” De Haan said in a statement.
