One person was critically injured after being involved in two crashes only minutes apart.

WKYT News in Lexington reports that the two separate crashes happened close to midnight Tuesday on Russell Cave Road.

Police report that the first crash happened at the Marathon gas station at New Circle Road. No injuries were reported from the first crash.

One of the drivers involved in the first crash reportedly fled the scene.

Minutes later, police responded to reports of a second crash — a single vehicle crash on Russell Cave Road and Faith Street. Police report that the vehicle involved in the second crash was the same vehicle that fled the scene of the first crash.

The driver was ejected in the second crash and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
