Kentucky State Police investigating shooting that involved police officer

Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting that involved a Lexington police officer Saturday.

Lexington Police responded at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Marshall Lane.

Officers received multiple calls about a person shooting a gun outside of a home in the neighborhood.

According to news sources, a Lexington Police officer arrived to the scene and saw gunfire. A 21-year-old man reportedly fired a gun at the officer and the officer returned fire.

The 21-year-old man was hit. Police report the suspect was shot in the shoulder. The suspect was thought to have sustained a serious injury but a non-life-threatening injury. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The officer was unharmed in the incident.
