One Kentucky fourth-grader was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday after a wheel broke off a trailer and rolled into a group of students.

The incident happened at approximately 3 p.m. at Fallsburg Elementary School in Lawrence County.

According to local news sources, students were returning from an outdoor math class when a wheel broke free from a trailer that was being transported on a nearby Route 3.

The wheel crossed two lanes of traffic, a ditch and rolled into the school building where it then ricocheted into three students.

One of the students had to be flown to a nearby hospital. The student has been released from the hospital with a concussion and bruising, the mother of the 10-year-old told local news sources.
