Police: Eastern Kentucky man shot, killed by officer assisting with traffic stop

A West Liberty police officer reportedly shot and killed a person involved in a traffic stop Saturday.

Jerry Roseberry, 48, of West Liberty died after being shot in the Malone community, the Morgan County Coroner’s office reported.

Roseberry had been reportedly stopped for a traffic violation by Kentucky State Police.

KSP reported to the Lexington Herald-Leader that a trooper stopped Roseberry’s vehicle for a traffic violation at 11 p.m. Saturday and had called for help from the West Liberty Police Department and Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

KSP said the situation progressed to the point where a West Liberty police officer discharged his weapon, killing the suspect.

No other injuries were reported.
